The mystery solved!
Congratulations to Alan Hertel from NYSEG for correctly identifying
our four branding icons as Tony the Tiger, the Pillsbury Dough
Boy, Speedy (of Alka Seltzer fame), and Mr. Clean.
This contest and the previous version (featuring the Morton
Salt Girl, the Jolly Green Giant, Elsie the Cow and Ronald
McDonald) were interesting exercises in brand recognition.
Despite our intentional "blurring," it didn't take
long for the colors and shapes of the images to make the right
connections for many people -- and for the companies who invest
so much in these brand icons. The thought that goes into the
designand the budgets that go into properly positioning
and exposing them within the marketplaceare efforts
and money well spent.
