A veteran of more than thirty years in advertising, Jon is a graduate of Union College. He began his advertising career as a copywriter at Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford, CT in 1972. Before that, he was an English instructor and administrator at the Williston-Northampton School, Easthampton, MA.

Jon joined Riger as a copywriter/account executive in 1973, and was a managing partner, along with Peter Cronk, from 1984 to 2003.

In the community, Jon has served as a director of United Health Services Hospitals, the City of Binghamton’s Police Community Relations Advisory Board, and the Leadership Broome Advisory Board. Among his many other professional and community involvements, Jon has also served on the boards of Roberson Museum and Science Center, the Broome County Chamber of Commerce, the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Binghamton, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Broome County. He is also a member of the Broome Community College Foundation, The Binghamton University Foundation, and is a past Adjunct Instructor in marketing and sales promotion at B.U.

Jon has chaired Project Pride, a Chamber of Commerce initiative aimed at improving the first impressions our community makes on visitors. He also has been active in the Live Wire Club, a Chamber organization which fosters an esprit de corps among Chamber members and self-examination among the community’s institutions.

Jon and his wife Tina are active participants in thoroughbred racing and breeding syndicates. He is a member of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association.
