Karen can spot a typo, a misspelling, or a flawed page layout a mile away. With over 30 years experience in the type composition business, she definitely knows all the Ps & Qs of the typographer's craft.

Karen plays an integral role in our print production workflow. She fine-tunes our typography, cleans up our layouts, assists with proofing, and prepares jobs for outside vendors. She serves as our primary liaison with job printers throughout the region, handling much of the Agency’s print buying and coordination. It’s her excellence at this detail work which sets her apart from the crowd!

Before joining the Riger Agency, Karen was affiliated with Eastern Composition in Binghamton, a business she co-founded over 20 years ago. As production manager, she arranged type and layout for book-length manuscripts such as college texts and journals. She also served as supervisor of Eastern's commercial department, handling the composition of everything from small print ads to newsletters and catalogs.

Karen had served as a vendor to us for many years, and we were delighted when she "came aboard" in 1994. Her knowledge and appreciation of the intricacies of print production make her a valued asset to the Agency and its clients.

Karen is serving her eighth term as Secretary for the Communications Association of the Southern Tier (CAST), and has also served as secretary for her children’s high school Friends of TheBaCh (Theater, Band and Chorus) group, and her son’s Cub Scout pack. Currently she's the assistant team rep for her son's high school hockey team with her husband taking on the team rep job.

Karen is thrilled to have her first and only granddaughter nearby to spoil. When not attending her son's golf matches or hockey games or shopping with her daughter, Karen enjoys some quiet time reading or working in her perennial gardens.
