Riger Info

A Syracuse University graduate, Peter joined the Riger Agency in 1972, after finishing an Army hitch as an Infantry First Lieutenant. Starting as a copywriter, then moving to account executive and account management responsibilities, Peter has specialized in industrial, technical, financial, professional services, and health care clients. He also oversees Riger public relations and publicity efforts on behalf of our family of clients. He became a principal shareholder and managing partner of the Agency in 1984.

Peter is an Accredited Member of the Public Relations Society of America and a member of the Business Marketing Association as well as of the Communications Association of the Southern Tier.

Within the community, he serves on the boards of directors of Roberson Museum and Science Center, Broome County Public Library, Ferre Institute and the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition. A past Adjunct Instructor in public relations at Binghamton University, he has presented marketing workshops through B.U.’s Center for Commercial Competitiveness, the Broome County Industrial Development Agency Entrepreneurial Workshop, the University Industry Partnership for Economic Growth (UnIPEG) and Broome-Tioga Workforce Development. In support of Broome County’s United Way, Peter has chaired its Public Relations Division. He has also participated on the faculty of Leadership Broome, sponsored by the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. He is on the Board of Governors of the New York State Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

A frustrated music lover who “can’t sing a note or play a lick,” Peter now resorts to brandishing the baton, gesturing to the audio speakers left, right, and center.
